In 1985, Yamaha Motor launched its first joint venture in India. It became a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan’s Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. in August 2001. (YMC). A joint investment agreement was made between Mitsui & Co. Ltd. and YMC to invest in India Yamaha Motor Private Limited in 2008. (IYM). The two state-of-the-art plants in Surajpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Kanchipuram make up IYM’s production facilities (Tamil Nadu). The facilities at these factories enable the manufacturing of two-wheelers and their components for both domestic and international markets.
